The Suurijärvi recreational route is an extensive and versatile collection of trails from Muurasjärvi in the Pihtipudas municipality to the Jääkolu boundary stone. The route is connected to the Peura Trail. There are a number of resting places along the route, and some of them include huts that are suitable for an overnight stay. The route is best suited to hiking, and the terrain is challenging in places. Duckboards help negotiate the terrain across some sections. You can park your car at Kaitala village hall in Muurasjärvi village. The sections from Kaitala village hall to the Jääkolu boundary stone and the connecting track to the Peura Trail have been marked.
