The Karoliinan Portaat natural stairs in Kymönkoski climb up along a rock face, which is hard to negotiate; the stairs have been named after their user, Karoliina Raatikainen (1848-1918). They have been labelled as one of the seven tourism wonders in Central Finland.
A 600-metre nature path leads to the bottom of the stairs. You can only climb the stairs at your own risk because they are steep, in poor condition and there is a risk of collapse. We do not recommend climbing in this area, because of the steepness of the stairs, the slippery terrain and loose rocks.
